Freedom Diaries is an educational and cultural platform created to help Ukrainian children discover their creativity, courage, and sense of inner freedom.
This is a space where:
culture, education, and children’s creativity are combined;
stories that inspire and support are born;
every child can feel that their voice matters.
The main idea of the project is to create a warm, humane digital ecosystem that heals, inspires, and gives a sense of space.
The purpose of the Freedom Diaries website
As part of the project, we created a modern website that:
conveys the values of Freedom Diaries — lightness, freedom, sincerity;
structuredly introduces users to the initiatives;
forms a space for communication with children, families, and teachers;
allows you to feel an atmosphere of warmth and trust through minimalistic visual solutions.
Design that conveys emotion
Freedom Diaries is about lightness. About the feeling that the site “breathes”. That is why in the design we used:
minimalism and clean forms, where typography is the main accent;
light graphic elements that create a feeling of space;
white background and soft shades that enhance the theme of freedom, warmth and trust;
visual language that helps focus on stories and meanings.
Challenges and UX solutions
The challenge was to find a balance between artistic emotion and functionality. The site had to be both warm and practical, emotional and structured.
Our solutions:
created an interface that is not overloaded, but has character;
thought out logical transition scenarios for children, parents, and teachers;
provided easy immersion in content: from drawings to educational materials;
adapted the design and structure to the short development time.
Site Structure
We have created a platform in which each section is an independent world, connected to the key values of Freedom Diaries.
01
Living Room
The main page is a warm introduction to the project: mission, idea, atmosphere.
The place where it all begins.

A practical tool to support educators.
03
For families
Tips and activities that unite children and parents.
Warmth, family, joint discoveries.

Space for self-expression.

The meanings we conveyed in the design
The site should not just be convenient, but one that speaks to children and adults in the language of trust and gentleness. During the work, we were inspired by the phrase that became the symbol of the project:
“Culture is our common wings. And happiness is when we use them.” (this is how to highlight it.. or put it in italics, or something like that)
This idea is embedded in every page, every detail of the interface.
A collaborative project
The Freedom Diaries website is the result of teamwork: designers, copywriters, cultural managers and the initiative team. Together we formed the structure, prepared the content, processed the photo materials and UX-flow, which made the platform what it is — warm, light and honest.
Technical implementation
The platform is created on WordPress with custom functionality adapted to the needs of the initiative:
individual templates for section pages;
lightweight modules for educational materials and coloring books;
adaptive design for comfortable viewing from any device;
the ability to scale to new programs and areas of activity.
Freedom Diaries is more than a website.
This is a digital space that supports Ukrainian children, inspires families and teachers, and helps them find warmth and peace in difficult times.
Freedom Diaries is a place where children can feel: the world is big, and dreams are real.
WowNature is a national digital platform created to present the unique natural parks of Ukraine and help travelers plan their trips. 80 parks and reserves, an interactive map, events, tours, activities, flora and fauna – everything is collected in one place.
The goal of the project is to make nature more accessible:
show routes, locations, recommendations for visitors;
provide parks with a modern digital ecosystem instead of outdated websites;
create a reliable resource for travelers and ecotourists.
Platform purpose
We have created a centralized solution that unites dozens of nature reserves into a single system:
80 parks on one platform;
quick search for routes, events, tours;
access to photos, descriptions, activities, and local features;

routes for hiking, cycling and water travel;
detailed descriptions of the flora and fauna of each park;
recommendations for local dishes, traditions and activities;

special projects and research articles.
Challenges and innovations
Challenges:
collect and structure content from 80 territories;

combine a large number of formats: maps, routes, articles, tours, events.
Solution:
developed a custom WordPress template for park pages;
created an interactive map with filters by activity types;
introduced modules for events, routes, tours, and calendars;
provided separate blocks for infrastructure, flora and fauna, routes, and access conditions.

Social mission and international support
WowNature was created as part of the Support to Nature Protected Areas in Ukraine project, which is implemented with the support of the German government through KfW and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
Goals of the initiative:
development of nature conservation areas in Ukraine;
popularization of ecotourism;
creating digital tools for parks;
improving conditions for tourists and raising environmental awareness.
Grant project and teamwork
A large-scale international tender procedure was conducted to implement the project.
Together with Happy Design, copywriters, photo and video teams, we prepared a comprehensive application, created a content database and structured a large amount of information. This became the starting point for the creation of WowNature – a platform that combines digital solutions, design and environmental education.
Solutions for Ukrainian natural parks
In addition to the main platform, we have created separate sites for national parks — adapted to a single template, but with unique content.
Example: the site of the Carpathian National Natural Park, which is already actively helping tourists plan routes and trips.
Technical implementation
The platform is built on WordPress with a custom set of modules:
individual templates for parks;
interactive map with filters;
custom blocks for routes, events, infographics;
adaptive structure for all devices;
the ability to scale to other natural areas.
WowNature is more than a website
It is an ecosystem that helps:
parks to develop, modernize infrastructure and attract tourists;
travelers — to discover Ukraine from a new perspective;
the country — to promote natural resources and ecotourism.
WowNature is a platform that helps people discover Ukraine every day and treat it with care. It is a combination of technology, design, environmental education and love for nature.
RUTA Association unites researchers from Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, the Baltics, the Caucasus, and Asia. Working at the crossroads of academia, culture, and activism, the association advances social justice and critical thinking worldwide.
RUTA came to us with an ambitious challenge: to create not just a website, but a dynamic digital platform that would become a working tool for an international community. Branding
RUTA’s identity is about modernity without visual noise. We designed a logo, brand book, and graphic language that make the organization recognizable yet balanced, free from unnecessary elements.
A distinctive feature of the design is the complete absence of stock imagery — the visual system is built entirely on typography, color, and the rhythm of content blocks.
RUTA is a great example of how an institutional website can be alive, modern, and functional. The platform is already fostering community growth — and we’re proud to be part of this journey.
